Amazing food, beer, entertainment and service. We truly experienced a full 5 star restaurant. The portions are huge and very well priced. We dined in on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Make sure you make reservations ahead of time. We tried 4 different dishes off the menu and all of it was delicious and plenty to take home. We definitely will be back to try the other items on the menu.

I am glad I found this place. A cute restaurant at the corner of King Street with old style paper menu which I personally like ❤️ Being a vegetarian, it is difficult for me to find delicious veg food but this place made my visit to Hamilton extra special. I ordered "Huevos Rancheros Skillet" and modified it to exclude the eggs and add in the jalapenos and trust me when I say, it was heavenly 😍😍!! The best food I have had in Canada since I have arrived here. I also ordered a chocolate cake which was amazing too and the restaurant offered it to us on the house 🥳🥳! I can't explain how special I felt ! 🥰 The staff is so polite and cooperative. You guys gave a reason to visit Hamilton again and again ! Thank you so much !

Great food and very generous portions. I ordered the pulled pork burrito and it was absolutely massive and delicious! The atmosphere there was great and the staff was very friendly and attentive!

Food was good, drinks were delicious but the atmosphere and service is what should put this place on the map. Awesome place to go out and have a laugh with the girls and not feel like your disturbing those around you and the servers are funny and good at what they do !! Definitely would go again. Only gave a 4 star because the menu was a lot and was hoping for a more authentic Mexican food experience

Husband loved the atmosphere. Great spot for a guys night ...beers and sports. Although the "chicken waffles " were disappointing and the bang bang shrimp was scarce.. the chicken pasta was fantastic!

Great nachos, wings, and other apps. Chimichanga was huge and tasty. Service was OK, but we didn’t feel like we were a priority. Beer was cold and we appreciated that.

Met up with some friends for some food and drinks. It has a great vibe. The cheese queso dip was great for 3 people and the little pretzel bites along with nacho chips were great for dipping! I had the crispy cauliflower tacos- you get 3 of them and they are full size! So tasty and a steal at 14.99. Friend had the steak fajitas and it was so much food she could not eat it all. It can feed 2 no problem. Great food and prices I will be going back :)

First timer - always wanted to try it finally got there. Ordered the cauliflower tacos they weren’t bad, I wish I took more time to read the menu probably would’ve selected something else. My brother got the burrito and had nothing but good things to say about it we also tried The queso dip - it was great too. I don’t remember our servers name but she was fast - super nice and helpful. Will return for sure maybe on the weekend next time.

I always get a little worried when I see a bar/restaurant like this that has such a HUGE menu with a ridiculously wide variety of items. Our group of 4 was very pleasantly surprised that the food here is pretty good. They also have a great selection of draft beers. The service is great and the staff are all very nice and helpful.

We found this place on our way to Hamilton falls! This is in a small town named Dundas! I am happy we found this place. Really nice people, amazing food! And nice, cozy place to go! Definitely recommend this place if you want to rest and enjoy your time after a long trip to Hamilton area, hiking and visiting places. Try the steak burger! It is delicious and price wise it is good. The domestic beer they recommend was smooth and refreshing! Staff were friendly and helpful. Whatever they recommend I enjoyed it. Also they are really considerate for their customers health and safety! Great job!

Great staff that they should promote and applaud their hard work more. Good menu choices. I'd like to see more grill items that aren't deep fried and covered with wheat because I need gluten free and don't just want to eat a salad when out. Patio is super nice and has a sheltered bar area if it starts to drizzle. Some items are a bit over priced for what you get. The chefs specials are usually very yummy and creative. Healthy choice options are appreciated to customize an order request. Hope live music resumes once covid restrictions lift. Miss Matt and Chris!

Staple of Dundas for many years. I used to like to sit at the bar and have a bite of food while my son was at his guitar lessons. Things have changed but some things always say the same. I went with my daughter for lunch and it was quick service of the food. I ordered popcorn chicken which was not made on site and I won’t order it again. The soft pretzel my daughter ordered was massive. She loves them. It was quite impressive. She also had the bang bang shrimp bowl which was enough for two meals. It was nice to come back. They are maintaining the physical distancing measures that are mandated and sanitize everything.

Came here with friends for dinner! Food, atmosphere, and service were amazing! Only downside is that it’s freezing cold in the front area of the restaurant, we had to eat with our coats on.

Food good, service good, atmosphere fun....but didn’t like all the TVs showing bull riding. It’s animal abuse for entertainment. Really don’t want to watch that especially while I’m eating. Please change the channel!!

Had a great time here earlier this week. We had the queso dip, fish tacos and enchiladas. The portion sizes are excellent and reasonably-priced. The waitstaff are very attentive and well-mannered. The ambiance is welcoming, with its cantina decor and cozy lighting. There was live music the night we were there, and although we were seated only a few feet away from him, he performed at a tasteful enough volume that we could enjoy his music and still hear each other speak. Will absolutely be back again!

This is quite a place. It was very busy when we went in for dinner on a Friday night but it was definitely well worth the wait. Everything we had was hot and delicious. Great atmosphere with great service and dynamite food.

New smoked chicken wings were tasty. Nachos with beef weren't very good. There were too many chips with nothing on them. Too little cheese and meat for the price. Quesadilla looked good.

My wife and I enjoyed a spectacular meal here. The food is delicious! We enjoyed the Cajun catfish tacos and a burrito bowl. Our server was very friendly and regularly made sure we doing well. The atmosphere is fun and cosy. We shall definitely be back for more delicious catfish!

Went because of the nachos and they did not disappoint. Crisp and cheesy with fresh tasting toppings. All other items ordered were good except the cauliflower tacos. The cauliflower tasted like they are a pre made item that gets deep fried and thrown in. With the care the meat seemed to have in the other dishes it was a little bit of a let down. All in all a good meal and would visit again.

Been a few times always great. tonight for some reason was very slow on the kitchen end… when food finally came out it was delicious as always we didn’t say anything as we are not Karins. Mangement came over right away and looked after the bill. Wasn’t necessary but I appreciate how they noticed that we were there for quite some time. Of course we tipped our waitress at the end. We will be back everyone has a off day and we appreciated them noticing us being there that long.

Burger was homemade delicious! Fries were crispy and hot. Fries come with orange seasoning salt on them which I do not like but i guess some people do. Nice little patio with sun or shade.

Amazing food and great service! The nachos are big enough for 2 people atleast! Loaded with Mexi beef city baby! Sour cream and salsa mountain! Cheesed to perfection and green onion antics. Hands down the best place to go for some reasonably priced drinks and good food! I wish I took a picture but by the time the nachos got to the table me and my boy Juan were living our best lives! This place is a secret gem definitely stop by here if your from outta town looking for bomb Mexican food👌

We ate at the Thirsty Cactus on the patio with some friends for the first time. The patio is quite large and the tables are spaced pretty far apart, which is perfect considering we're still in a pandemic. The wait staff were all very friendly and sufficiently attentive without being annoying. I would describe the food here as Southwestern tex-mex. We had the jerk chicken tacos and enchiladas, which were *very* delicious! The portions were very generous; the tacos in particular were at least twice as big as other tacos I've had elsewhere! Our friends had the jerk chicken bowl and burritos and were also very satisfied. I also had a frozen raspberry margarita which I really enjoyed. I highly recommend this place!

Wonderful place to sit in (once the pandemic is over?), take out, or sit on the large patio, watching the world go by. The food is darned good - you really must try it to appreciate it. The service is great, and actually exceeded our expectations with the care and personal attention they offered. If you're in or near Dundas, head straight to the Thirsty Cactus - you won't be disappointed.

The food was great. The service was great. The place itself is very cool. They had 3 huge televisions to watch sports. Reasonably priced (although felt the portion size for the Bang Bang shrimp was small) other than that portions were great and delicious. Just a cool vibe. Family friendly!

This place has a really cute atmosphere. Came here for lunch on a weekday seeking some mythical ~texmex in canada~. Was not disappointed. It's obviously not authentic Mexican food and it's certainly not trying to be. The only thing I miss about living in Texas is the FOOD and Thirsty Cactus has gotten pretty close to fixing this. Food was good, reasonably priced, and the decor was too notch (gaudy in the best way). I got a frozen strawberry margarita served in a quaint glass and a delicious chimichanga I couldn't manage to finish after our appetizer. Their "normal" fare was awesome as well- my husband claims the buffalo chicken dip is one of the best things he's ever tasted and I have to agree. I'll definitely be back.

We ordered the nachos which was good but could have used more layering of the cheese as there was many naked chips. The chicken on the nachos could use some Tex-Mex flavor as its plainly grilled. The server was attentive and payed attention to details of our order. Maybe the rest of their food has more flavor. I'll give this place another chance and order something else next time.

I love this place. I have lost count of how many times I've eaten here. The food is always excellent and the servers are always very friendly and efficient. The last time I was there they had a gentleman playing his guitar and singing for everybody on the patio while people ate and enjoyed their drinks. It was quite nice.

Attended the Thirsty Cactus patio with friends last night. I was very impressed with the professional manner in which they are dealing with the Covid protocols! Ronnie and her crew provided exceptional service with the friendly touch. This is a great restaurant that has been around for a long time. The Tex Mex food we ordered was fantastic. We need to remember that they are not only providing us with great food and service, but they continue to provide jobs and wages to people in our community. We need to get out to support it as much as possible so that it will continue to be there when Covid is just a memory. Thanks for the great food and service you provided to us and your community. Good place for drinks and hanging out on the patio. We found the food to be pretty expensive and not to taste. Mac and cheese was spicy and tasted like very strong blue cheese, not to our liking. Fish tacos lacked a flavorful sauce and was breaded without much flavor. However, each table gets a free serving of nachos and cheese which would be great for groups of people!

Wife and I were in Dundas, ON on a Sunday afternoon and looking for a local establishment to have lunch. We spotted The Thirsty Cactus and decided to give it a try. Rustic, looking like a place you would find on the Texas-Mexico border, filled with mostly men watching NFL games on the numerous screens. We decided on the pulled pork nachos. I found the time that it came to our table quite long especially that the place was only 1/3 full at the time. How long does it take to throw chips on a metal tray, put toppings on it and throw it in the oven to melt the cheese? Well, it was worth the wait. Served to us on a large metal tray was a huge pile of chips, juicy pulled pork, diced tomatoes, lettuce, green onions, sliced jalapeños, salsa and sour cream. As we dug into it we agreed that it was great, one of the best nacho platters we've ever had. Thanks Thirsty Cactus! If we're ever in the area again, we'll be sure to stop by and try one of the other items on the menu.

I wish I lived closer to this place!! I was in the area and decided to order fish tacos and mexi fries from this restaurant. The fish tacos were SO GOOD. Literally mouth watering. The fries were just okay. If I'm in this area next time, I'll definitely come back and order other things on their menu.

I love their wings and nachos, and that you can order curbside pickup on a moment's notice (and you can buy drinks to go, too). Takeout portions are huge.

My favorite place to go in the dundas area. Very clean,very friendly and serve huge portions. Everytime we've ordered its been fresh food... Try the deep fried burrito or the philly cheese steak or the nachos those are my favorite...thank me later.
