Jolly Good

We got Japanese steak combo special and Salmon combo special. My steak came along with Lobster tail, Shrimp skewer, veggies and fried rice for $31. It was a delicious meal. If you prefer medium cooked then get a medium rare so you can slowly cook on the hot stone. The meat is always warm and juicy. I recommend to cut smaller pieces, place it on stone and then dip in the sauces to get the optimum taste. Each time try different combinations of dips to get slight variety. Overall great taste, great service, great ambience, great value! The staff really cares for the customers feedback about food and are filled with joy when you say you really liked the food. Shingyu checks all the boxes you need for a dine-in experience.

Solid lobster, shrimp & steak combo, went there during a relatively quiet weekend lunch time. The place is spacious and properly sanitized. Great service as well. Surprisingly the fries and the water were the highlights lol. Btw, the street parking there is free on weekends.

I want to be honest. The food is great and tasty as well they have great service. Environment is also amazing there. The prices are really good for what you are getting and I highly recommend this restaurant in Hamilton. It is really worth it.

Don't wear anything nice here! Food was great, however serving on hot plates and only providing small paper napkins is not suitable. Both my dates and mine shirts had grease splatter and are ruined and we were trying to sit as far away as possible. Owners, please consider providing proper sized cloth napkins.

The food here is pretty good. We did the 2 for 18.99 deal where we got 2 bowls. The salmon is good and crispy, but I just hope the Salmon was a bit bigger.

This place was fantastic ! The food was delicious, decent portions, reasonable prices and such friendly staff! Loved the sizzling plates ! It was a lot of fun, I will definitely return the next time I'm in Hamilton. 10/10

Went as a party of 3 on the last day before lockdown 2.0. I had been wanting to go to this place since they opened but never found an occasion to go. Very happy that I got to try it before the Hamilton-wide shutdown. Value: 5/5 I ordered a special for $30. It came with an 8oz sirloin, shrimp skewers (4pieces), a lobster tail, an assortment of veggies (corn, potato, asparagus, and mushroom), about a cup of fried rice (upgraded from steamed rice for $1), miso soup, and a surprisingly well dressed mini side salad. I also ordered the a mango puree based cocktail for $6.99. We received a complimentary desert I'm assuming as we were going to be their last customers before the lockdown valued at $2.99. With all this there was an accompanying ramekins of melted butter, teriyaki sauce, and a poached egg. It was a lot of food. At a steak restaurant, for $40 I would expect just a steak. Shingyu provided exceptional value and variety for the cost. Quality: 5/5 The steak itself was impeccable. Perfectly cooked with the available hit stone to keep the food warm. You can also use the stone to create your own personal teppanyaki experience. Everything we received had a purpose and was delicious. Even the drinks tasted great and the bartender didn't skimp on the alcohol. Service 5/5 The server explained the menu and options very well. Even going as far as reminding one of us that the stone will continue to cook the steak so ordering rare instead of medium rare would be a better choice for them. The food and drinks came out quickly, and the bill was brought as soon as it was asked for. There was not a lot of interaction past the necessary which is preferable during a pandemic. Servers were kind, informed, and efficient. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be going back post-lockdown. If you're wanting steak but with a fun and interactive twist at very reasonable costs, try Shingyu. You won't be disappointed.
