Once you negotiate the tricky new roadway here you will enjoy the large parking lot with all free parking. Upon entry we were welcomed warmly and guided to our table very quickly. Windows here are very large and let a lot of sun in. It is a very good thing that there are shades on each one that the customer can lower for themselves because it can get pretty hot with the sun in the South. The waitress was friendly, patient and knowledgeable. She took my child seriously as he ordered for himself and interacted with him as though he were any other customer, making him feel all grown up! The portions were large and tasted good. Everything was served hot and quickly. The waitress came around often to check on us and top coffee up. They have two types of hot sauce, Tabasco and Frank's. They also have HP Sauce too! Yum! If you are needing a quick breakfast this restaurant does the trick!

Comfort food place like Denny's but I think the food quality is better than Denny's. Don't mind it. Good atmosphere for a family restaurant to have brunch and gatherings.

All in all good service staff are friendly and polite. Breakfast was different in the sense that they rename products they have there own style of a sausage which was tasty. It’s also the old consent of the waitress calls the order into the kitchen which l haven’t heard in a while. All in all breakfast was tasty and enjoyable you also get a coffee flask which is good saves the waitress coming by with coffee pots.

Decided to stop here in lieu of Denny's and was not disappointed. Food and eggs Benedict were delicious, and portion sizes were good. Coffee was also shockingly good and they left the pot at the table which was excellent. Slightly more expensive than Denny's, but you're supporting a smaller franchise and can feel good about it. Would return no doubt. Did I mention the waitress ran out after us because one of my party left his leftover box? Top notch.

Phil's is one of my favourite places to get breakfast/brunch. It has a classic diner feel & they have really consistent, delicious food and they're one of the only places that has crepes. When I get takeout, they often give me free mini pancakes as well <3

The staff at this Phil's are always friendly, courteous and very helpful. The food is great and the portions are large! There's plenty of parking and they sanitize each table after every customer, a safe and healthy place to go for breakfast! They are only open until 3:00 p.m. so get there early.

Don't think the Waffle & One was worth the price. My friend got 2 pieces of toasts, 2 eggs, 3 bacon, hash browns, etc. And the price was similar. The coffee is from an urn. Refillable though.

Great buttermilk pancakes! Very fluffy. The strawberry toppings and whip-cream was an added bonus Pork medallions were decent. The hashbrowns were moist , but still tasted good Service was fast, and good was solid for the price! The only thing that i thought was ok was the coffee (Not bad though)!

It's been several years since I last ate at Phil's. With Covid-19 shutting restaurants and travel down, I wasn't in Calgary much. However, I attended Stampede with my niece (an annual tradition) and we wanted breakfast before we rode down to the grounds. My go-to is still the minced ham and scrambled eggs. I take reduced quantity shredded hash browns and an English Muffin with grape jelly to go with my favourite breakfast, along with milk and water. Food doesn't have to be fancy to be tasty and satisfying, which Phil's understands very well. I look forward to catching up with this location again soon. Keep up the great work folks!

Great staff here, would love to find tastier coffee, especially because it’s open early and I’m an early riser. I guess when you get an entire carafe it will be weak. I’d rather have one good cup than several mediocre….Especially at a breakfast place. Will come back for the hash browns, yum.

Needed to grab a brunch. They are creative with spacing patrons which works great!! My waitress was Samantha G . She was so sweet, smiling, fast and very professional! She definately understands customer service! I chose a Build your own 3 egg omlet with spinach, tomatoes , muchrooms and green onions. The no pale sad old eggs. It was bright in color , all the veggies , although stir fried were fresh! Spinach still had crunch and the mushrooms were soft but not mushy from sitting around. With tea it was $18.53. She even took off the .60 for the toast I didn't want. I was able to sit with no pressure to leave to finish my tea well after I'd finished eating and my plates cleared. It's a bit old and dark and worn BUT it's close to all the hotels and I'll be back tomorrow for an early breakfast!

The pancakes were amazing 🥞 but the eggs benedict were not so good. The eggs were cooked perfectly but the back bacon was pale and unappetizing and the hollandaise sauce was almost a jell in the same unappetizing colour as the back bacon. I had peaches and raspberries on my pancakes which was delicious. It was super busy with a ton of kids so it was exceptionally noisy. $44.00 for breakfast seems a bit high but I think it's typical for a breakfast restaurant now. We could have probably gotten a better meal for the price though. Searver was really good and the coffee was really good too. Beef cubbies were really delicious according to my husband.

Big portions and great taste! The biggest disappointment is that they close at 3 pm. They were (pre pandemic) open til about 8 so you could enjoy their food for all meals of the day. I had veal cutlets with mashed potatoes and gravey and mixed veggies which were fresh, not boiled to death! I had no room left for dessert!

The morning is wonderful when you get phil's pankakes. You should certainly give it a try! Food was fresh, presented well, and made to order. If you are in Calgary, you should have breakfast at Phils 🙂

Classic Phil's, can't really go wrong. My *basted, medium, eggs were much softer than I expected, but at least I had pancakes to soak up the yolk. Hungry. No matter. I remember *locals breakfast* at the Banff Ave location and in Canmore back in the day, I still prefer Phil's to De***s, or Ri***s grill... Hostess and wait staff were great 👍, See yous next time!

Its the same great service ive received for over 3 decades and the breakfast food was ok. The coffee still tasty. The omelet was not so great. The hashbrowns are still the best both the shredded n cubed as attested to by my 12 yr old n myself. Just it still covid wish more people would get vaccinated would love to have normal or closer to normal back. Im glad Phils was open n still being great at their service.

Well sanitized and very clean looking. Restaurant recorded our contact info, should they become aware of any covid follow that might be needed. Coffee & breakfast were delicious, everything prepared EXACTLY as was ordered. Speed & friendliness of service were excellent. Apple pie with cheddar cheese is a meal in itself. Often go here before or after appointments at Foothills Hospital, as it’s a 5 minute drive from there. Any place that gives you a pot of coffee to keep at the table is good, in my books.

This is exactly what you expect (and want) from a breakfast diner. When you order coffee they just leave the thermos at the table. They don't season their potatoes at all which is really good for people with diet restrictions who struggle to find safe restaurant options. I asked for no toast with my meal and they gave me extra potato. Competent, accommodating staff. I'll be back.

Loved it! I ordered online and the club sandwich was good, the gravy was good, loved the cute little messages written on the boxes and the free samples, but the real star was the monte cristo! Soooo yummy Was my first time ordering but will definitely order again. 10/10stars

I took my dad here when he was visiting me in Calgary because I know he doesn't care for the types of restaurants that I tend to frequent, and I was pleasantly surprised! The food, although nicely plated, wasn't "fancy" but it sure was good!! Big portions and great flavours, no compromises made in an effort to widen the profit margins. I can see why this place has been going for as long as it has. Prompt friendly service too! I'll be back!!

I have been going here for years and love it here! The servers are super friendly, the food tastes amazing and the prices are great! I have also ordered from here off of Skip the Dishes and the food is always hot and tasty. Highly recommend and the atmosphere is great! My only suggestion is the place needs a renovation to bring it into the 21st Century! But I completely understand why it isn't lol.

We arrived in Calgary and we were trying to orient ourselves to the city. We decided to walk around and in one shop asked where we could go for breakfast. It was noted that Phil's would be the place to go. There are many locations throughout the city. Where it did not blow us away, the choices were varied and the food was plentiful. I ordered the oatmeal which did not disappoint (way too much). The waitress was attentive and was by frequently for coffee refills. From my perspective it can be deemed as classic diner fare, comfort food galore!

Great value on breakfast items. Some of the best pancakes in Calgary, with a variety of tasty fruit toppings and several great syrups. Usually fairly busy, so expect to wait a bit to be seated. Staff are pretty friendly and attentive to your needs. Always a good, tasty experience at Phil's.

Great family setting for breakfast. Nothing fancy. But great french toast. I had the eggs Benedict, which came with perfectly medium poached eggs. I substituted potato pancakes for my side, and they were delicious, served with apple sauce and sour cream. I'll definitely be back!

A great local and historical restaurant. They renovated since I was last there but that hasn't changed its classic Calgary atmosphere and amazing variety of dishes. The menu is spectacular, filled with unique items on every page. It is worth checking out if your driving by, visiting Calgary and want an experience. Since it's close to Banff Train station it's also worth a train ride to experience.

2 things are important when you go somewhere to eat. Food and service. Phil's on 16th Avenue will give you satisfaction for both. Our dishes were tasty and our waitress was excellent. We enjoyed a casual family dinner this evening, with most taking advantage of the all day breakfast menu. Although the restaurant wasn't busy, service was slow, but friendly, and the food came out quickly once our order was placed. Servings were a good size, the food was delicious and prices were affordable. The only improvement I'd recommend is an accessibility button to enter and exit the restaurant; the vestibule is small, making it very difficult for one person pushing a wheelchair to manage both doors. I'm looking forward to our next family meal at Phil's!
